DESSERT RECIPE: PEANUT BUTTER DREAM PIE
November’s finally here and if you’re looking for an alternative to the same ol’ pumpkin and pecan pies this holiday season, Kathy G.’s phenomenal pastry chef, Kat Albertson, has a fun twist on chocolate and peanut butter that’d make the people at Reese’s full of envy. With no baking whatsoever, our PEANUT BUTTER DREAM PIE is super-simple to make and everyone in your family from age 2 through 102 will love it!
(NOTE: Recipe yields one 9-inch pie)
CRUST:
2 oz Melted Butter
1 ½ cup Roasted Peanuts
8 oz Crushed Oreo Cookie Pieces
Place peanuts and Oreo pieces in food processor. Pulse until coarsely ground. Add melted butter. Mix thoroughly. Press firmly into pie tin. Place in freezer.
FILLING:
6 oz Creamy Peanut Butter
6 oz Cream Cheese
4 ½ oz Sugar
1/2 oz Butter
1/4 tsp Vanilla
3/4 cup Heavy Cream
Place peanut butter, cream cheese, and sugar in a mixing bowl with the paddle attachment. Cream together at slow speed. Scrape down bowl and paddle. Increase speed, mixing until light and creamy (approximately 5 min.). Whip heavy cream to a medium peak.
Remove bowl from machine. Fold in heavy cream and vanilla. Place mixture into Oreo pie shell and refrigerate for approximately 1 hour until chilled.
(NOTE: You can serve as traditional pie slices OR you can cut it up into squares as shown in the photo.)
A few optional toppings that you may want to try:
Ganache
Whipped Cream
Chocolate Chips
Roasted Peanuts

Kathy G. & Company Caters the 2010 Zoo Gala
The Elephants are coming… and the rhinos, hippos, and the wildebeest, too! We are thrilled to be catering Trails of Africa, the 2010 Zoo Gala this weekend, September 25th. The cocktail hour begins at 6:30 pm and we’ll begin our plated dinner service at 8pm. The black tie event will raise funds for the new “Trails of Africa” pachyderm habitat at the Birmingham Zoo. Our amazing urban zoo is spread over 122 acres and is home to 250 species, including several endangered species. The new $15 million pachyderm habitat has been designed with some of the leading experts to create the most natural home possible for the zoo’s elephant, rhino, and hippo population; the habitat will include a new giraffe, wildebeest, impalas, and others to create a total snapshot of Africa within the zoo. We’ll be serving some of our all-time favorites plus some new dishes created by our culinary team expressly for this event. Lava Lamp will be providing the entertainment so you know this will be a blowout bash! More post-party photos to come… stay tuned!

Kathy G. Weddings: Jessica & Ryan’s Farm Chic Wedding!
It was a year of weddings for the Bryant family. Jessica, her mother, sister, and two brothers were all married within the year. So Jessica really wanted her wedding to Ryan Sciacca to be different and reflect their unique style. So they took the festivities down to the farm creating a simple and elegant family style wedding. Jessica even rode to the ceremony on a tractor! Some of our favorite wedding friends were on hand: Photographer Frank Carnaggio, Andy Tolar of Design Productions, Carol Riley of Lillie’s Flowers, wedding planner Anita Kanellis, and the fabulous party band Super T were all part of the team that helped bring the couple’s wedding vision to life. Our own Kathy G. & Company catering division incorporated an upscale farm feeling for the food stations and the buffet tables, including lots of farmstand baskets, sunflowers, and rustic elements for serving. A canoe was even used to chill the wine! The menu was designed with signature southern summer menu items like our Watermelon Squares with Balsamic Glaze, a Southern Grits n Potato Bar, Sliders, our crowd favorite Mini-BLT’s, and Crabcakes but also included some of the couples favorites, too. Some of Jessica’s menu choices reflected her love of junk food; she opted for a chip and dip table and also had us pass cookies and milk to guests later in the evening. Look at the beautiful setting, personalized details, and all the fun! Congratulations to Jessica & Ryan! Thank you for letting us be a part of your day.

To see more of Jessica and Ryan’s big day, check out their awesome wedding video preview by Clay Carroll of Carroll Production. Big fun down on the farm!
JESSICA & RYAN’S SNEAK PEEK WEDDING VIDEO!
We love this preview video that Clay Carroll of Carroll Productions has put together for Jessica and Ryan’s wedding! It’s so much fun and the music just brings all of that gorgeous footage to life– check out our magnificent buffet tables and signature Kathy G. cuisine. We love the bridesmaids in cowboy boots, the big John Deere tractor, and of course, the happy couple as they said their vows. Awesome! Thanks for sharing, Clay! More best wishes and congratulations to Jessica and Ryan and their families. What a wonderful wedding!
