KG DESIGNS: WHITNEY & DANIEL: RED, WHITE AND EXOTIC!

Andy and the KG Designs team packed it up and headed east for this big blowout at the Pell City Yacht Club for Whitney and Daniel’s big day. From the zebra prints to gorgeous arrangements featuring lots of orchids and tons of red roses, this wedding was red, white, and exotic! Whitney loved the zebra print shoes her bridesmaids wore so much, she also wore a pair and incorporated the print into some of the wedding design. Andy also used white calla lilies, white Dendrobium, Phalaenopsis, and other tropical blooms in the floral design concept. The red roses and calla lilies were also used in the bride’s gorgeous bouquet. Thanks to Meredith Rowlen Photography for the images.

KG Designs: Kim and Andrew’s Gorgeous Gadsden Wedding!

Another KG Designs wedding on the road! This one was in Gadsden at The Gadsden Country Club for the wedding of Kim Skelton to Andrew Woodall. It was all hands on deck as Andy and his team, along with wedding planner extraordinaire, Meghan Cease pulled out all the stops to make this wedding more than magnificent. The look was clean summer…..rich aqua, apple green and white.   Kim wanted classic clean lines with a new age twist. Using all white flowers with green for color and texture; the result was elegant, Southern chic and perfect for the country club setting. The bridesmaids wore beautiful aqua blue dresses and Andy matched the color to linens for the reception.  Kathy helped the couple with their menu design and the country club produced several of Kathy’s classic recipes for the reception. Kathy also styled the food for the party using many of her own props and serving pieces in signature Kathy G. style. Thanks to Meg Baisden Photography for the wonderful images!

Kathy G. & Company Weddings Around Town: Montevallo’s American Village

The American Village in Montevallo is a wonderful wedding venue and we were so pleased to have designed a  beautiful wedding there recently. Kathy G. & Company catering and floral design worked to make this Italy meets Southern family wedding really special. Here are some of the details designed to blend the couple’s Italian heritage and their Southern roots!

Our couple, Sabrina Cherichella and Joe Childs, wanted to share both their Italian heritage and their Southern roots with their guests so our chefs created a menu that reflected both.

The MENU

Summer Tomato and Mozzarella Caprese Salad with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Basil and Cracked Pepper

Classic Roasted Chicken

Lazy Susan Service Featuring Southern Side Dishes: Sweet Creamed Corn, Southern Style Green Beans with Ham, Summer Squash Cassarole, and Grilled Summer Vegetables.

We also served a delicious specialty drink in the couple’s signature color, red. Our Sparkling Pomegranate  Cocktail with Lemon was so perfect and refreshing; a nice welcome for guests. The couple had orchestrated a fun dance routine for their guests that resulted in the entire room forming a conga line through the tables! What fun! Congratulations to Sabrina and Joe!

Kathy G. Around Town: The Sonnet House, Leeds, Alabama

Event coordinator Mary Jones and head designer Andy Hopper and the Kathy G. team recently had the pleasure of working with The Sonnet House for the Kristina Davidson/Garrett Hodges wedding for both catering and floral design.

Andy and Kristina collaborated on her floral design; she wanted a garden chic feel to include blooms that looked as if they’d been picked from the garden. Antique hydrangea, peonies, oakleaf hydrangea, Queen Anne’s Lace, ranunculus, Blizzard and Vendela roses, and Green Dandy cymbidium orchids were used in the bouquets, centerpieces, and reception flowers. Look at the magnificent wrought iron cross Andy designed that was used as the focal point for the ceremony. Stunning!

The menu included:

Roast Beef on Homemade Rolls with Horseradish

Mashed Potato Bar with Toppings

Hot Spinach and Gruyère Dip with Tortilla Chips

Stuffed Mushrooms

Crostinis with Mediterranean Toppings

Kathy G.’s Signature Seasonal Fruit and Cheese Display

This venue is not only lovely and the perfect outdoor setting; they are true professionals at executing their client’s every wish. It is easy to see why they were voted “Best Wedding Venue” by Fox6 viewers. Check out some of the beautiful wedding day images from Studio G at The Sonnet House. Congratulations and best wishes to our lovely couple, Kristina and Garrett Hodges!

Sneak Peek: Alabama Weddings Garden Couture Photo Shoot

We are all weddings these days at Kathy G.’s The Gardens Cafe!

Tamara and her staff host several bridesmaid luncheons and parties every weekend. It’s the perfect wedding venue! Our recent photo shoot for Alabama Weddings was shot at the gardens and was absolutely gorgeous! The food, beautiful signature drinks, and amazing floral creations from our own KG Designs will offer wonderful ideas for any type of wedding or party. Here’s a sneak peak at our “Garden Couture” shoot with Arden Photography, Holloway Productions, and Barb’s Cakes.  The Gardens is the perfect spot for a romantic wedding! Including our cafe, we have several different venues within the gardens that are perfect for weddings. The Hill Garden is perfect for the ceremony with calming reflective pool and fountains;  it makes a lovely outdoor setting and the magnificent glass gazebo really makes a statement. We wish we could show more of our wonderful wedding photo shoot but you’ll have to wait until the magazine debuts in January!

KG Designs: Wedding Wreaths are Really Rockin’!

Our head designer Andy Hopper tells us that all of his brides want a beautiful wreath to greet their wedding guests. Whether they are square or round, we are using wreaths on church doors and for the entry doors for the reception. Check out some of his beautiful wreath designs below!

Weekdays, Friday, and Sunday Weddings are HOT!

We’ve been getting lots of inquiries for “off-peak” weddings. What is off-peak? In our industry, off-peak is any day other than Saturday. Most wedding venues and vendors are not as busy off-peak so budget conscious brides are finding this a viable alternative to a Saturday wedding. We even can create special packages for off-peak weddings complete with flowers, food, and more. If this sounds like what you’ve been looking for, call us and let us show you just how creative we can be for your off-peak wedding! Read about a beautiful mid-week wedding that was held at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens… very elegant and completely relaxing!

Allie Award Nomination: Best Floral Design

Our second Allie nomination was for our “Art of a Wedding” entry by Andy Hopper and Kathy G. Designs for Best Floral Design. This ultra formal wedding look was designed with a passion for art and to showcase the spectacular setting of the Birmingham Museum of Art. Keeping the integrity of the installations already in place required a floral design that was a work of art. Congratulations to Andy and his team. Good luck!

Behind the Scenes with Andy at The Philadelphia Flower Show!

Here’s a sneak peek preview of Andy at The Philadelphia Flower Show. Andy worked on Bill Schaffer’s team— they constructed a polar fantasy of flowers  that won The Philadelphia Flower Show Award of Distinction! We’ve got more images and video to come but we couldn’t wait to share these behind-the-scenes images with you now! Way to go, Andy! Congratulations to you and everyone for this amazing feat! Stay tuned, more to come!
