The White Wedding Runway Show and Benefit

Wedding ideas, celebrities, gowns, lots of glam and it all benefits a wonderful local charity! Don’t miss The White Wedding— a runway fashion show and wedding event featuring our favorite Project Runway alum, wedding gown designer Heidi Elnora. Heidi’s latest collection will be worn by college students from UAB, UA, AU, Samford, and BSC and they’ll take to the runway to help raise funds for Camp Smile-a-Mile.

It all takes place at the fabulous Old Car Heaven on Saturday, February 23 from 7pm until?

For those not familiar with the mission of Camp Smile-a-Mile, their mission is to offer year-round challenging, unforgettable recreational and educational experiences for young cancer patients, their families as well as young adult survivors from Alabama at no cost, and to prepare them for life after cancer.

So get your tickets early— see some beautiful gowns and get tons of ideas for your wedding. The Kathy G team will provide food and celebrity bride, Melissa Rycroft from Dancing with the Stars and Good Morning America will make an appearance!  Tickets are $15 in advance and $25 at the door. Kathy G in the Community: Supporting Voices Against Violence

Did you know that area police respond to over 800 calls regarding domestic violence each month? Kathy serves on the Advisory Board of The Women’s Fund, a non-profit organization committed to improving the status of women and girls by serving as a catalyst for positive social change by reducing domestic violence, increasing women’s economic self-reliance, and helping girls reach their full potential. Recently honored with The Critical Impact Award, the group’s annual reception will be held this Thursday, October 15^th with Associate Justice Lyn Stuart as keynote speaker.

Learn more about Voices Against Violence and the good work The Women’s Fund is doing in the Greater Birmingham Area. From help with understanding credit and finances to home ownership and business skills, The Women’s Fund is empowering women by helping them to help themselves by creating opportunities for educational, physical, emotional, social, artistic, and personal growth for women and girls in the community. The organization has awarded more than $1 million in grants in Jefferson, Shelby, St.Clair, Blount, and Walker counties and also established a $2 million endowment.

Sneak Peak: Heidi Elnora’s Alabama Wedding

So we’re in the middle of planning a “favorite things” wedding reception for Project Runway alum and Birmingham wedding gown designer, Heidi Elnora.

While we don’t want to spill the beans on the festivities, let’s just say that we’ve gone country cool as we break fast from tradition, bring on the junk, and sweeten the deal for the couple’s October wedding at one of the city’s most scenematic locations! Details to come!
